The Sacrament of Confirmation completes the process of our initiation into the Church.

In the Confirmation ceremony the Bishop calls upon the Holy Spirit to strengthen our faith and our commitment to following Christ by the laying on of hands and anointing with sacred Chrism. The ceremony may take place in our own parish, or may be consolidated into a larger group at a different parish. Numbers will dictate how and where the ceremony will take place.

In this diocese, Confirmation is celebrated for young people in Year 8 at secondary school.  Young people wishing to be confirmed are invited to register their intention to be confirmed via the website -  After registration the young people will receive catechesis from the Catholic School they attend, or locally if they do not attend a catholic high school.  Parish meetings will also be arranged.

If you require any further information please contact us at our parish email address shown alongside or directly to Deacon Jim at

2024 Confirmation for Year 8 Students in your Parishes/Deaneries

Simon Gore from Animate Youth Ministries has shared the attached letter and resources with you all regarding the sacrament of Confirmation. This letter contains useful information for encouraging and preparing young people to enter into the sacrament, as well as information on when and where to sign up.

Confirmation 2023

As you can see from the poster alongside provided by Fr. Simon Gore, registrations for Confirmation begin on 16th January and continue until March  17th.

There are a few details which will be communicated over the coming weeks to ensure our eligible children are well prepared for this Sacrament. Animate will visit schools and at the same time, schools will teach about the Sacrament in their RE classes.

Confirmation 2022

The registration process for 2022 has now closed, and the confirmation services took place on the 9th and 10th of July.   Bishop Tom Williams was in attendance.
